Yesterday, I finished my essay "Hope Speaks", my entry in the Renal Support Network's essay contest "Describe how your experiences gave hope to other dialysis patients". I wrote about a speech i gave a couple of years ago at a National Kidney Foundation event, and how I was able to connect with the audience with my story. I put a copy in the mail for Mom to read. First place is $500, second $250, third $100. The prize money would be nice, but it's not why I wrote it. I'm just glad that (a) I had a story to contribute, and (b) I was able to put it to paper in short order. I wrote the bulk of it during Thursday's dialysis session, and did final edits Friday and Saturday.
Today I am grateful for baseball!
